Travelers Institute Celebrates 15th Anniversary by Ringing The Opening Bell® at The New York Stock Exchange

Immediately following, Travelers’ public policy division will host livestreamed symposium on workforce trends

The Travelers Institute, the public policy division of The Travelers Companies, Inc. (NYSE: TRV), will celebrate its 15th anniversary today by ringing The Opening Bell® at the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE).

Following the ceremony, the Travelers Institute will host a symposium in the NYSE Board Room as part of its new Forces at Work℠ initiative. A keynote address and two educational panels will be broadcast live to the public, exploring the state of mental health in America, how business leaders can promote mental well-being in the workplace, and insights on navigating today’s labor market.

“For 15 years, the Travelers Institute has led thoughtful and constructive discussions on pressing public policy issues that impact businesses and consumers,” said Joan Woodward, President of the Travelers Institute and Executive Vice President of Public Policy at Travelers. “With our event at the New York Stock Exchange, we will convene thought leaders to elevate important topics that help to shape the future of our industries and communities.”

Jerome M. Adams, M.D., M.P.H., FASA, the 20th U.S. Surgeon General and Executive Director of Purdue University’s Health Equity Initiatives and Center for Community Health Enhancement and Learning, will open the symposium with a keynote address focused on mental health.

“Mental health can no longer linger in the shadows – it must take center stage in our conversations about overall health,” said Dr. Adams. “Having had the honor of serving as America’s doctor, I’ve witnessed firsthand the urgent need to prioritize mental health in our national dialogue. I’m proud to partner with the Travelers Institute to shed light on this topic and provide actionable steps we can take to foster a more inclusive and supportive environment.”

Woodward will host the program, which includes the following sessions:

  • 10:30-11:30 a.m.: “From Awareness to Action – Creating a Mental Health Action Plan for Your Organization” Dr. Adams, Ramona P. Tanabe, President & CEO of the Workers Compensation Research Institute, and Rich Ives, Senior Vice President, Business Insurance Claim at Travelers, will reflect on the state of mental health in America, explore the latest workers compensation trends and share insights on how organizations can support mental well-being in the workplace.
  • 11:40 a.m.-12:30 p.m.: “The Intersection of Tech and Talent – A Leadership View of Today’s Labor Market” Dan Helfrich, Principal and former Chair and CEO of Deloitte Consulting LLP, and Mojgan Lefebvre, Executive Vice President and Chief Technology & Operations Officer at Travelers, will dive into today’s competitive labor market and discuss the ways that high-performing companies are adopting innovative talent strategies in a world of rapidly evolving technology.
